Food truck POS & QR ordering — FAQ

Answers to the questions food truck owners ask before switching from a traditional POS.

What is the best POS for a food truck?
The best food truck POS is one that runs on the phone you already own, takes card payments without extra hardware, and includes online ordering. Food Truck Menu bundles QR ordering, Stripe tap-to-pay, kitchen tickets and pickup slots into one app so you don't stitch three services together.
How does QR code ordering work for a food truck?
You print one QR sticker and put it on your serving window. Customers scan with their phone camera, browse your menu, pay by card or Apple Pay, and get an SMS when the order is ready. No app download, no queue, no cash handling.
Do I need special hardware or a card reader?
No. Payments run through Stripe on the customer's own phone, so you don't need a terminal, iPad stand or receipt printer. If you'd like paper kitchen tickets, any Bluetooth thermal printer works — but it's optional.
Does it have a festival or event mode for high-volume trading?
Yes. Festival mode caps concurrent orders with pickup time slots, hides sold-out items automatically, and switches the kitchen view to a stripped-back ticket queue with prep timers. Turn it on before the gates open and off when you pack down.
How much does it cost?
Free to start with no credit card. We charge a 2% platform fee on completed orders (Stripe's payment fees are separate). Higher-volume plans add bulk SMS and multi-staff registers — see the pricing page.
Can I still take cash?
Yes. Staff can mark orders as paid in cash from the kitchen view, and cash sales are included in your daily reports alongside card takings.
How fast can I get set up?
Most trucks are taking orders within 10 minutes: sign up, snap a photo of your printed menu for the AI import, print the QR sticker, and you're live. No installer, no contract, no lock-in.
